Salcedo, Messler Sweep NAC Weekly Honors in Debut Week

WATERVILLE, Me. (September 7, 2021) - SUNY Delhi women's runners Katerina Salcedo (Binghamton, NY) and Kristina Messler (Rock Tavern, NY) swept this week's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Cross Country weekly honors. Salcedo earned Runner of the Week and Messler Rookie of the Week following impressive finishes at the Hartwick Wednesday and Le Moyne on Saturday.

Salcedo finished second overall as the team's top finisher with a time of 17:31.80 Wednesday to lead the squad to victory at Hartwick's 4K Dick Daymont Season Opener with 28 points. She followed that up on Saturday at the Le Moyne 4K with a team-leading 17:00.3 for 13th overall as the Broncos finished fourth with 90 points.

In her Delhi career debut, Messler finished fourth overall at Hartwick with a time of 18:25.34 to serve as the Broncos' third finisher in a race where the women had all five runners place in the top 11. Three days later the Rock Tavern, NY native again was Delhi's third finisher, placing 15th overall with a mark of 17:09.9, being the third and final of Delhi's consecutive finishes at 13th, 14th, and 15th.

Salcedo, Messler and the Broncos continue their season at Vassar College on Saturday, Sept. 11th.
