Women Run to Fourth at Le Moyne Invitational

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 4, 2021) - The Broncos women's cross country squad showed their prowess at Saturday's Le Moyne College Invitational, placing fourth in the four-kilometer race with 90 points. Delhi's top five finished between 13th and 27th place, covering a spread time of one minute and 46 seconds. In front of the women were NCAA Division II Daemen and hosts Le Moyne, with SUNY ESF in third.

Katerina Salcedo (17:00.3), Sophie Stewart (17:05.4), and Kristina Messler (17:09.9) finished in succession at 13th, 14th, and 15th. Mary Lyons pulled through in 21st place at 17:56.1 and Kailyn Oreglio 27th at 18:46.11. Shyanne Lawton ran 19:07.8 for 28th place, followed by Alexandria Caceres in 30th at 20:25.4.

"The girls ran really well, was very excited to see their finishing speed today," said head coach Zach Brown. "The girls really showed up today. I was really excited to see them running as a pack and working together. This is going to help us be successful later in the season," said coach Ben Finnigan.

Following two races in four days to start their season, the women have a week ahead of them to get ready for the Vassar Invitational Saturday, Sept. 11.
