DELHI, N.Y. (September 25, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team handed Northern Vermont Lyndon a 3-0 defeat Saturday in the first of their NAC weekend home series. The Broncos improve to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in NAC play, keeping up their unbeaten home record through four contests. They'll look to keep their home and NAC record un-blemished with another league match tomorrow Sunday, Sept. 26 against Maine Farmington at 11:00 a.m.

Similar to last week's NAC home win against Northern Vermont Johnson, Delhi threatened all afternoon, finishing with a staggering 28-1 lead in shots and a 9-0 lead in corner kicks against the guest Hornets. Also similar was the Broncos' resolve to get at least one goal on the board before halftime through roughly 40 minutes of scoreless action. They got their chance in minute 41 when freshman Alivia Cordero sailed a ball over a pack of players in the box, which Kelsey Innes pounced on for the first score of the day as the broncos led 1-0 at halftime. Innes assisted the second score in the second half, carrying the ball down the left wing and crossing it to Kristen Lombardo who drilled it in the open net with her left foot in minute 64. Lombardo in turn played a role in the third and final goal, feeding Micayla Slattery, who split two defenders to enter the box from the right and delivered a dribbler to the bottom left corner in the 68th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Andraya Hunt made her first career start Saturday, making one save in 79 minutes of work before allowing fellow freshman keeper Julia Ruppert to finish the game out. Hunt is 1-0 to start her Broncos goalie career.
