Rasul Jackson named as SUNY Delhi’s Women’s Basketball Head Coach

Director of Athletics Bob Backus has officially announced the appointment of Rasul Jackson as Head Coach of the SUNY Delhi’s Women's Basketball Program. Jackson comes to Delhi after serving as head coach at Cazenovia College where he led the team to one conference tournament in two seasons.

"I want to first off thank our search committee for an outstanding job in this important head coaching search. As the Director of Athletics at SUNY Delhi, I’m very pleased to announce and welcome to our community, head coach of Women's Basketball to SUNY Delhi, Mr. Rasul Jackson,” said Backus, “Coach Jackson brings several years of basketball coaching, playing experience and background from the North Atlantic Conference and we are very excited to have him as a part of our coaching staff. I'm confident that our women's basketball program will flourish under his guidance and leadership over the coming years. It's a Great Day to be a Bronco!"

Coach Jackson is already very familiar with North Atlantic Conference basketball, previously coaching two other women's programs after graduating from Northern Vermont University-Johnson in 2018. 

Before joining Delhi, Jackson spent the last two seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Cazenovia College (2021-2023). He immediately made his impact on the program in 2021, leading the Wildcats to the North Atlantic Conference tournament in his first season where they would advance with a first-round win.

Prior to Cazenovia, Jackson began his coaching career as the assistant men's basketball coach (2018-2020) at Northern Vermont University and in AAU. As the assistant men's basketball coach, he would be involved in all aspects of the program, including player development, recruitment and supporting student-athletes. Alongside his coaching duties, Jackson was the Assistant Director of Admissions and Executive Assistant to the Associate Dean of Athletics. 

Coach Jackson graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business & Sports Management in 2018 from Northern Vermont University-Johnson before achieving his master's in Athletic Leadership from Castleton University in 2021. He was a four-year starter and team captain of the men’s basketball program while at NVU-Johnson. He is originally from Philadelphia, PA and has a fiancé named Kendra.
