Women’s Basketball Falls in Final Regular Season Game of 2023

Delhi, NY - Delhi Women's Basketball (2-22, 0-14) took on NAC opponents NVU-Johnson in their final game of the season and were defeated 88-61. They ended their season on a high note scoring more points than in their last 17 games.

The Broncos had a great first quarter, going 42.1% (8-for-19) from the field and 33.3% (2-for-6) from deep. They would be down just 22-19 at the end after working the ball down low and scoring 10 points in the paint.

They would continue to play well through the rest of the first half, going into the break down 43-35. Everyone who attempted a shot for Delhi would score as the starting lineup all recorded a basket. Angelica Lazo led the team with nine points, while Aniyah Jones, Yasmeen Kablaoui and Jenn Roche all put up seven points each.

Delhi would use an (8-2) scoring run out of the break to bring the score to within two points. The Badger would then break out to a lead that they would maintain through the second half.

Numerous Broncos ended their season on a high note with three players reaching double-digits in scoring. Freshman Aniyah Jones and Angelica Lazo finished with a team-high 17 points each. Jones ended with nine rebounds and three assists as she always made a big impact. Freshman Yasmeen Kablaoui was the other member to finish in double-digits, scoring 11 points.

The Broncos wrap up their 2023 season with a solid game from everyone who touched the court. The program will look forward to the next season.
