Track and Field takes on Continental Invite at Hamilton College

The Broncos track and field team traveled to Hamilton College for the Continental Invite late Friday night. 

Delhi athletes had a great day compiling a number of top-five finishes.  The sole first-place finish for the women's team came from Sabrina Richards who won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.26, more than a full second ahead of the runner-up.  Other fine sprint performances were highlighted by Miranda Cole.  Cole placed third in the 60-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash with times of 8.36 and 27.07 respectively.  Kadie-Ann Whyte placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.19 seconds. 

In events other than sprints, Kristina Messler placed second in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:31.85.  That time ranks her number eight in program history.  Also posting a runner-up finish was Kitty Messina in the shot put with a toss of 11.22 meters. 

For the men, freshman Deron Davis continued to look solid, winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.03 seconds.  He was followed by teammate Mickenson Simon in third place with a lifetime best of 7.23 seconds to break into the Delhi all-time top 10 list. 

The 200-meter dash saw Lorenzo Castro pick up one of his two wins on the day.  He crossed the line in 23.41 seconds for the victory.  Teammate Cristhian Cuevas was second in the 200 meters with a time of 23.51 seconds.  Castro also won the 400-meter dash where he ran 52.21 seconds. Cuevas, Davis, Simon and Castro all came back and teamed up to place second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:33.50.

In the longer events, John Amenta placed second in the 3000 meters with a solid time of 8:50.19 and Aidan Cutting placed third in the mile with a time of 4:35.33. 

The Broncos will now look forward to the Utica University Blue and Orange Invite on Saturday, January 28th
