SUNY Delhi Swimming and Diving 2023-24 Season Preview

The SUNY Delhi Swimming and Diving team is preparing for the 2023-24 season under the new head coach, William Stephens III, in his first year at the program's helm. With room for improvement from last year, the team will aim to build a foundation to compete in the North Atlantic championships at the end of the season.

"As the new head coach of swimming and diving, I had no influence on how last season went, but I appreciate what Coach Miller did last year with recruiting and inspiring the returners to continue to be great swimmers," said Stephens. "My expectations for this season are to build a winning culture here at Delhi that kids want to be a part of and to coach the current roster to achieve the best times they have ever had."

The Broncos have three returning players from last year's team: sophomores Skyler Nowalk and Aiden Record, along with senior Kitty Messina. Nowalk had a solid debut season last year, placing second overall in the 100-yard Freestyle and third in the 50-yard Freestyle in last year's conference championship. They will be joined by seven new swimmers to bring more depth to the team, including six freshmen and one sophomore transfer.

"My expectations for my returners this season are for them to be leaders of a very young team and to be standout characters both in the pool and on campus," Williams said. "I expect them to lead by example and embrace the culture I am bringing so that the new swimmers and divers understand and embrace these expectations for themselves."

The Broncos will kick off their season with two invitationals at Hartwick, scheduled for October 15th and 21st. Following that, on November 4th, the team will visit Potsdam, which happens to be Coach Stephens' alma mater. They will then participate in seven more invitationals leading up to the NAC Championships on February 16th.
