Delhi Honors Retired Assistant Coach During Double Header Against Cobleskill

Oneonta, NY - On a day of strange weather, the Delhi softball team was once again at the All-Star Village in West Oneonta for a doubleheader against Colbeskill.

In the first game, the Broncos fell 7-0, despite the game being much closer than the score would suggest.  Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning, the Broncos loaded the bases with nobody out and looked poised to score some runs.  Unfortunately, Cobleskill was able to field a ball and get the force out at home and followed it up with a line drive out and a ground out to get out of the inning and the Broncos stranded three of the eight runners they left on for the game.  In the top of the third inning, the Broncos were one out away from turning the page on the frame when an error extended the inning.  Emily Lutz stepped in and made the Broncos pay with a three run homer.

Between the two games, Delhi took some time to recgonize Greg Keesler.  Keesler spent seven years as the teams assistant coach and put countless hours into the team.  He decided it was time to retire from coaching earlier this year and the women on the team wanted to let him know how much they appreciated his time.  There were also a number of Bronco softball alumni that returned for the ceremony to thank Greg for his commitment.

In the second game the Broncos gave up two runs in the top of the first, but battled back for two of their own when Kaitlyn Stagno singled and they drew three straight walks.  Kayleigh Allen then plated another run on a wild pitch.  However the Tigers bats were just too much and their 12 hits pushed them to the victory.

Next up for Delhi is a home double header against Skidmore scheduled to be played at Robert S. Brown Field on Tuesday at 3:00 and 5:00pm.
