Softball Plays One With Cobleskill, Drops Pitchers' Duel

April 12, 2024 --- Oneonta, NY (Cooperstown All-Star Village)

SUNY Delhi softball, the ever-flexible program, moves one of the weekend's North Atlantic Conference games to this afternoon due to expected weather for Saturday.

DELHI (0) vs. COBLESKILL (2):

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was the visitors that jumped out to a lead in the first. Cobleskill sent 8 players to bat and ran two runners across the plate to go up 2-0 and put the Broncos in the hole early.

Cobleskill and Delhi were quiet for the rest of the game except for the third inning. The Fighting Tigers would load the bases with two outs but Delhi's Angelina Dickel escaped the jam. The home Broncos loaded the bases in the third with singles from Kayla Beers, Cayla Moroni and Kayleigh Allen but were unable to cut into the Fighting Tiger-lead.

Each team's pitcher got stronger as the game progressed and the 2-run first inning would be all Cobleskill needed to pick up the conference victory.

NOTES:

Dickel (2-8) throws first career complete game, strikes out 4 and accounted for the fourth Delhi hit with a 2nd-inning single.

Delhi and Cobleskill completed the 7-inning game in 54 minutes.

Cobleskill pitcher, Madelynn Orosz, retired the final 13 batters she faced.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The Broncos (4-14, 0-4) will welcome back the Fighting Tigers to the Cooperstown All-Star Village on Sunday April 14 for a doubleheader. Games are scheduled for 10AM and 12PM.
