DELHI, N.Y. (August 25, 2020) - Our coaches have been nothing short of extraordinary during this adverse time that all colleges are facing with regards to athletics. While hopes of a championship are far from view, the determination to still provide students a welcoming, active experience entering this year has not left our coaches' eyes. SUNY Delhi Athletics celebrates our coaches with a new feature where we'll learn about our talented coaches in three phases: before, during, and after SUNY Delhi.

Today's feature is on men's basketball head coach Zack Thomsen. Entering his sixth year at the helm, Thomsen is excited to have his program compete in their first year in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) after concluding their time in the American Collegiate Athletic Conference (ACAA) with back to back league titles. Thomsen has spearheaded the Broncos through their time in the USCAA and now NCAA, getting the program to championship status entering its new era in NCAA Division III. The Broncos also qualified for their first USCAA National Tournament last season, winning their first-round game.

BEFORE... "Before I arrived at SUNY Delhi I was very familiar with the program. My uncle, Bob Law, played for the team in the early 90's and as a student-athlete at Onondaga Community College I competed against SUNY Delhi. I have a lot of respect for the success that the Delhi Men's Basketball Team had prior to my arrival."

DURING... "Since I've arrived at SUNY Delhi our program has been in a state of constant change. We transitioned from the NJCAA to the USCAA and now the NCAA. We've won the ACAA Conference Championship the past two seasons, and had our first 20 win season and first National Tournament appearance in our NCAA era in 2019-20. I was fortunate to be named ACAA Coach of The Year in 2018-19 and 2019-20. We also have had 4 1,000 point scorers and 5 All-Americans in my tenure to go along with numerous All Conference selections."

AFTER... "My next goal for our program is to win the NAC Conference and compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament. I haven't thought beyond that."
