Broncos fall to VTSU-Johnson 2-1 in tight battle at home

Delhi, NY – Women's Soccer hosted conference opponents VTSU-Johnson on a cold Saturday afternoon in a battle of two top teams in the NAC West Division and were defeated 2-1. The Broncos now fall to even with Morrisville State at third in the divisional standings.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW  

  • The Badgers would be the first to get on the board, grabbing a goal in the 46th minute.  

  • The Broncos would answer right back with a rocket from sophomore Shaniyah Myers (North Babylon, NY) outside the box. She was set up by Kaitlyn Hines (Staten Island, NY) with a great one-two pass for her seventh goal and Hines's fourth assist on the season. 

  • Vermont State would regain the lead in the 59th minute with a shot just inside the box and held onto it for the rest of the match.

  • Delhi ended with 10 shots compared to the Badgers' 8.   

  • Freshman goalkeeper Vanessa Sanchez (Jurupa Valley, CA) made six saves in her eighth appearance on the season.
