Delhi falls to FDU-Florham for their first loss in 11 matches

Delhi, NY - Women's Soccer hosted non-conference FDU-Florham Wednesday night on Neil Riddell Field and were defeated 1-3, snapping their 10-match unbeaten streak. The Broncos remain top spot in the North Atlantic Conference West Division with just two conference matches left.

THE BASICS

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW  

  • In the second minute, FDU grabbed an early lead by putting away a loose ball from inside the box. 

  • Freshman Jacey Nieckarz (Buskirk, NY) leveled the Bronco's score with an equalizer in the 30th minute. She intercepted the ball from a Devil's defender and slotted it past the keeper in a one-on-one situation, securing her second goal of the season. 

  • Just a few minutes later, in the 35th minute, the Devils regained their lead, which they held until halftime. 

  • In the second half, Delhi had a few more opportunities but struggled to create solid chances. The Devils extended their lead late in the 74th minute, concluding the scoring. 

  • Freshman and NAC Defender of the Week, Vanessa Sanchez (Jurupa Valley, CA), made nine saves in goal, including some remarkable stops.

Delhi Women's Soccer will look to Saturday, October 14th when they host NAC opponents VTSU-Johnson.
