The SUNY Delhi Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its first-ever "White-Out Night" Tuesday during the women's and men's basketball doubleheader versus Davis in Floyd L. Maine's Arena. With a large crowd on hand, fans got to see both the women and men defeat the Falcons, with the ladies netting a season-high in scoring with a 104-68 win, and the men a 91-60 victory in their home season finale.

"The White-Out event allowed us to reach out and extend a special invitation to the campus and the community to be part of Delhi Athletics," replied Associate Athletic Director Cathy Foto. "Our teams loved the atmosphere, the fan support was tremendous and it was a great night all the way around. We look forward to continuing to promote our teams and creating a great experience for our fans."

Tuesday also marked the official unveiling of the new SUNY Delhi Athletics hashtag #DelhiDrive. Members of the SAAC rewarded the first 500 fans a free white #DelhiDrive t-shirt featuring mascot Blaze, as well as holding a 50-50 raffle and throwing out some mini Broncos to lucky fans throughout the night.

"Our women's basketball team thrived off the atmosphere from the White-Out," said women's basketball head coach and SAAC Coordinator Vicki Andruszkiewicz. "The energy in the gym was high and our team had a lot of fun. It was so nice to see so many people come out and support our basketball teams. Events like this help create a sense of SUNY Delhi pride and we look forward to more events like this in the future. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen."

The evening was tipped off with current Delaware Academy student Kelly Rolfe singing the national anthem prior to the women's game. During the women's halftime, Athletic Director Bob Backus publicly acknowledged 30 SUNY Delhi student-athletes for academic achievement by maintaining at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average.

The men's basketball squad even held their "Senior Night" before their game by honoring departing players Damon Denteh and Stephen Harten. Halftime of the men's game featured a surprise ceremony for the men's golf team, in which head coach Dave Arehart presented his players their USCAA National Championship rings after winning the tournament in October. The halftime festivities concluded with a 3-point shootout between Vice President of Student Life Tomás Aguirre and Sports Information Director Dan Graham, which was won by Aguirre on a free-throw tiebreaker.

"It was great to see all of the support for our basketball teams and was a great way to send off our two departing players," said men's head coach Zack Thomsen. "I hope that support carries over into next season."

The SUNY Delhi SAAC and Athletic Department want to thank everyone for coming out, and for all the support from everyone on campus on helping to promote Tuesday's festivities. That includes the people from Cadi, who helped the SAAC fund the event.
