Men's Golf has a Successful Weekend at the George Cangero Invitational

Delhi - Men's Golf traveled to the George Cangero Invitational in Farmingdale, New York over the weekend for a two-day affair. Facing some tough competition, the Broncos team placed eight out of ten schools on the first day and then moved up a spot after the second, placing 7th overall for the invite.

On Saturday, the five-manned team and Branson Morrison as an individual had a great opening 18. Thomas Christoffersen led the way for the Broncos with a score of 73 (+3), ending up in an eight-way tie for 12th. Christofferson had an impressive 14 pars and one birdie through the first 18. His 14 pars landed him in a six-way tie for third most pars on the day.

Christoffersen was followed closely by John Williamson who was three strokes behind with a score of 76 (+6). He posted 13 pars on the first day and ended up in a seven-way tie for 33rd. Branson Morrison was the Bronco's individual competitor and had a great day on the course as well, scoring a 76(+6) on the first day

"Farmingdale hosted a first-class event with a quality field of teams at a historic facility. We worked hard this week and responded with two solid days of play and our most consistent scoring so far this fall," said head coach Dave Arehart, "Today was breezy and we were able to hold our rounds together and move up a spot. Tom Christoffersen played incredibly steady this weekend with a pair of 73s including pars on 27 holes. John Williamson and Jordan Starley also contributed with some of their best golf of the fall. We are looking to teeing it up next weekend at Oswego Country Club."

The Broncos regrouped the second day and performed even better, with four out of the five Broncos either tying their previous score or improving on it. John Williams and Jordan Starley improved by two and three stokes, while Christofferson and David Flannery recorded the same score both days

Starley, improved three strokes on the second day, placing second on the team and tying for 33rd overall. He had a team-high, five birdies on the weekend. While Williams had 26 pars total and came in a five-way tie for 33rd. Christofferson ended the weekend with 27 total pars which would be third most in the competition, as well as two birdies. He scored a 73 (+3) on both days and was in a three-way tie for 13th place.

The Broncos will now turn their attention to the two-day Oswego State Fall Invitational on September 24th and 25th
