Men's Golf Fill Up Four of the Top Five Spots, Take Home the Win at Home Invitational

Delhi - The Broncos Men's Golf team hosted their SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational this Sunday, taking home first place, 17 points ahead of second.

Competing against NVU-Johnson, Elmira College, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Poly and Cazenovia, Delhi took home their first win of the year. The Broncos scored a day low 312 points, with second place NVU-Johnson coming in with 329.

They were led by Sean Gordon who won his first-ever collegiate golf competition, carding a match-low 75. Gordon had a great day on the home course, shooting six pars on his way to securing the medal. After getting into some trouble early, starting his round with back-to-back bogeys, the junior played steady throughout with birdies on holes seven and nine. A key part of his victory was the critical birdie on the 486-yard hole nine.

Coming in second with just strokes behind the top of the board was David Flannery who carded a 77. He would end his day with two pars and a birdie. Flannery was followed by two Broncos who were a part of a four-way tie for third with a score of 78, Jordan Starley and Saturday's winner, Thomas Christoffersen.

"It was terrific to be home for our fall invitational and see the full roster competing. The team is working really hard this season to elevate their golf games, said head coach Dave Arehart, "Congratulations to Sean Gordon and Tom Christoffersen for their first individual titles this weekend. They are both well-deserving leaders on our squad."

Delhi will now travel to compete in the Shenandoah University Invitational at the Winchester Country Club on September 12th at 9 AM.
