DELHI, N.Y. (December 8, 2020) – While this fall semester has been anything but ordinary, our student-athletes have shown outstanding character, resilience, and leadership during their practice seasons. SUNY Delhi Athletics is proud to celebrate our Broncos of the Week each Tuesday by recognizing our talented and committed students, who despite the absence of competition demonstrated superb qualities on behalf of their team, the college, and their program of study.

Alanna Ruchar, Women's Soccer (Delhi, NY / Delaware Academy)

From Head Coach Lauren Mackay:

"One student athlete who was great during the fall season was Alanna Ruchar. Being a first year student athlete on a college soccer team is hard enough and to join during a pandemic makes it even more challenging. Alanna showed up every day to work hard regardless of what we were doing. She finished every rep during our strength and conditioning sessions even if it meant she wouldn't be done first. When we started playing, she had a knack for finding the goal whether we were playing small sided or with full size nets. She never stopped moving. I am looking forward to seeing Alanna play on a full size field next season!"

Mark Frascello, Men's Lacrosse (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury / SUNY Orange)

From Head Coach Sam Miller:

"Mark had an amazing fall both on and off the field. Mark is a transfer student from SUNY Orange who actually played two years of soccer before coming to Delhi in the fall of 2019. He had his only college lacrosse season canceled last spring and to say that this has been motivation for him would be an understatement. He has worked tirelessly through the offseason and it showed this fall because he played at a very high level. He showed up every day to practice and brought precision and high energy to the offensive side of things. He has naturally shifted into a leadership role despite still feeling "new" to Delhi and has done a great job keeping the freshman and other younger guys in the loop with practice schedules, meetings, and other important information. He also sets a great example for the team on working hard not just at practice – if he is not in class you can usually find him in the weight room or at the wall."
