DELHI, N.Y. (April 20, 2021) - SUNY Delhi Athletics is proud to be back in the competitive swing of things this spring, and even prouder to celebrate our new batch of Broncos of the Week! This week's honors go out to softball's Kayla Beers and men's golf freshman Thomas Christoffersen.
Kayla Beers (East Meredith, NY / Charlotte Valley Central) used her second RBI double of Monday's second game to give the Broncos a 6-5 walkoff win against Cazenovia, capping off a seventh-inning rally trailing 5-4 and a doubleheader sweep of the first-place Wildcats to even the series. Beers finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, adding a ribbie two-bagger in the fifth inning to put Delih ahead 4-3. In an eight-game week, Beers had another highlight game in the series opener at SUNY Cobleskill last Tuesday, batting 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Freshman Thomas Christoffersen (Binghamton, NY / Chenango Valley) scored a 78 in his first career home match at the Bronco Spring Invitational Saturday. Competing individually, he finished 12th in a field that comprised of NCAA Division II competition St. Rose and Le Moyne, and was the Broncos' fourth-highest finisher. In his first career match at the two-round Le Moyne Bello Invitational last Monday, he tallied matching 77 scores.
