Barrow Earns Penn Relays Medal Again

SUNY Delhi junior Keimon Barrow placed fifth in the college high jump at Penn Relays.

Barrow, who placed third in the event last year battled terrible conditions along with all the other jumpers to clear 2.04m (6' 8.25") on his second attempt.  Eleven athletes remained in the competition when the bar went up to 2.08m (6' 9.75").  Ten of the eleven failed to clear with only Phillip Smith of Middle Tennessee State clearing it on his third attempt.  With conditions bad and getting worse, Smith decided to stop the competition rather than try to go higher.

This marks Barrow's second straight year winning a medal in the event.  This year he beat athletes from programs that include Clemson, Duke, N.C State, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Barrow will be back in action tomorrow on the SUNY Delhi campus competing in the long jump and triple jump in the USCAA National Invitational.
