Broncos Host Keuka in DH Matinee; Wolves Take Both Games

April 8, 2024 --- Oneonta, NY (Cooperstown All-Star Village)

SUNY Delhi softball hosted Keuka College in a doubleheader matinee. Due to the solar eclipse, the games today started at 11AM.

GAME 1: DELHI (0) vs KEUKA (12):

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The visitors would take an early 1-0 lead after one inning and built a 3-run lead after two. The home Broncos would put their lead off hitters on base in their first three at-bats but wouldn't be able to cut into the deficit.

Keuka would score four runs on four hits in the top half of the fourth inning to extend their lead. Delhi would use 3 consecutive singles to load the bases with 2 outs in their home half of the fourth but a routine flyball would conclude the at-bat.

Two scoreless innings would follow before the Wolves used four extra-base hits to push the score to its final: 12-0.

NOTES:

Daniell Seymour (1-6) took the ball for all 7 innings for Delhi and collected two singles.

The Broncos were able to produce 8 hits in the game but stranded 8 baserunners.

Keuka batters tallied 7 extra-base hits.

GAME 2: DELHI (0) vs. KEUKA (9) - 5 innings:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

A quiet first inning turned into an important second at-bat for Keuka in game 2. Delhi was able to quickly retire the visitors and looked to open the scoring after their first two batters reached base. The Broncos again were denied, leaving a runner at third. This led into the Wolves' second inning where they would score six runs and push the game out of reach.

The Delhi bats weren't able to keep pace in their next three chances with Hannah Caughey's third inning single being the lone hit in the final three home frames.

Keuka added to their lead in the fifth inning to put pressure you the Broncos to extend the game. The home Broncos were able to again get the first batter on base with a lead off, Cayla Moroni walk but it wouldn't be enough to spark a late rally.

NOTES:

Angelina Dickel (1-7) started for the Broncos before Seymour would finish the final 2 2/3 innings.

Kayla Beers singled in the first to go along with Caughey's for Delhi's lone hits.

WHAT'S NEXT:

No rest for SUNY Delhi softball (2-13). They are back in action tomorrow (April 9) for a doubleheader with Wells College. Games are scheduled for 3PM and 5PM.
