Personal: Born September 11, 1999…daughter of Lubi Ruiz and Christian Dematteis … has a sibling ( Ian )… I’ve played for many travel teams, but for some reason I was always called “Is” or “Izzy” from my coach and my teammates. I loved having a nickname within the sport because to me thats how I feel a bond is made, especially in a sport. The best memories I’ve had during my career in this sport is the hits I’ve made in tournaments that won games, the plays made at the plate, as well as the sneaky sliding to steal while all the adrenaline rushes through my body, focusing to get to the next bag to reach my goal in order to help my team in the process to succeed. Ever since I was a toddler my dad always had me catching, and throwing something. As I grew up my dad helped me increased my competitiveness by having practice harder and harder, also by signing me up to be in competitive travel teams as a way to try myself harder in softball. I was always told aggressiveness and compassion is what wins games because those two this build ones competitiveness. So as far as I can remember softball has been a way to show my compassion, my aggressiveness, and overall my competitiveness… Criminal Justice major
