Robb Munro

Robb Munro enters his 14th year overall at SUNY Delhi for the 2025-26 year and and his second year as the Director of Athletics. Prior to this role, Munro served three years as the Associate Athletic Director.  He was appointed to that position after spending his first nine years as head coach of the cross country and track & field programs, guiding the teams to numerous championships and outstanding recognition, academically and athletically, during the college's transition to NCAA Division III.

During his first year as the Director, Munro demonstrated that growth mindset looking for ways to continue the push forward for Broncos Athletics.  Munro led the department's successful application for full membership in the SUNYAC which will begin in the 2026-27 school year.  "This change is a big step forward for our student-athlete expereince as well as our recognition as a legitimate NCAA III athletic program" said Munro.  He also launch of the athletic departments first fundraising campaign with the Back the Broncos initiative in March of 2025, and will host the department's first golf tournament in August.  Through these events, Munro's main focus is outreach to alumni to get them back visiting campus and sharing their stories about how Delhi impacted them, to help the current students see thevalue in persistence.

In the role of Associate Athletic Director, Munro oversaw all day to day operations in the department.  This included compliance with the NCAA, assessment for the Middle States Accreditation and gameday operations and management.  He also served in the role of Sports Information Director during two stints where the position was vacant.

Munro first joined the SUNY Delhi Athletics Department in 2012 to take over the college's storied cross country and track & field programs. His success was not measured by wins and feats as much as it was by sustained excellence during SUNY Delhi's transition to four-year athletics and NCAA Division III. Munro helped close out his teams' time in the NJCAA with a women's track & field national title in 2014 and the men's track & field national crown in 2015. Upon entering the USCAA, his men's cross country teams posted four straight national titles between 2016 and 2019, and even coached one NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American in winter 2018.

In their transition to NCAA Division III, the Broncos have combined for nine ACAA and NAC conference championships over five years between cross country and track & field. Munro and his squads found instant success at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships, totaling four victories, two meet records, and at least one podium finish at every indoor and outdoor championship since joining in 2018-19.

Munro's student-athletes have excelled just as brilliantly in the classroom, with five of his students earning the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence in six years, along with two receiving the USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year. He had one student amass back-to-back CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, with another two taking CoSIDA Academic All-District.

He is also a notable figure in the community, coaching numerous youth sports, running the Lightning Legs Youth Cross Country and Track and Field Club and volunteering at numerous other events in town and on campus.

A lifelong resident of Delaware County, Munro grew up in nearby Sidney and was a standout distance and steeplechase runner at Sidney High School, winning a New York State steeplechase championship in 1996. He continued his running career in college, first at Virginia Tech and then University of Delaware, earning 11 letters and possessing the fourth-fastest time in UDel school history in the steeplechase at the time of his graduation. He earned his Bachelor's from Delaware in History Education in 2001, followed by his Master's in Education at University of New England in 2006.

Prior to SUNY Delhi, Munro spent 11 years as a teacher and coach at Bainbridge-Guilford Middle/High School in Bainbridge, N.Y. In guiding high school cross country and track & field programs, Munro's teams combined for 13 conference titles, 13 conference relay titles, two sectional titles, as he had individuals and relay teams win numerous state titles and earn All-American honors. He additionally coached soccer and basketball.

Munro resides in Delhi, N.Y. with his wife Stephanie, their sons Liam, Finley, and Avery, and their dog Tala.
