Broncos of the Week 2/22-2/28

Delhi, NY - It was another great week in Delhi Athletics featuring an exciting playoff win in basketball and some more personal best performances from the track and field team.  This weeks Bronco of the Week honors highlights two deserving Broncos that continued to step up their level as the competition got stronger.

Chris Filatov

Senior | Pearl River, NY | Men's Track and Field

Senior Chris Filatov has had a fantastic return to competition this semester.  Filatov, who last jumped in the 2021-2022 season has shaken off any rust very quickly.  Back on February 3rd, hehad a clearance of 4.45 meters or 14' 7.25" which tied the Delhi school record.  He then had two weeks without a chance to compete, but that did not seem to phase him at all.  At the Ocean Breeze Fast Chance Invitational, Filatove converted a clearance of 4.50m or 14' 9" to become the all time highest vaulter in Broncos history, indoors or out.  With the performance he has earned his way into the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships to be held at Nazareth College this weekend.

Kitty Messina

Senior | Canadaigua, NY | Women's Track & Field

Messina has had a terrific season this year, already becoming the best weight thrower in program history.  At last week's Fast Chance Invitational at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, NY, she was the teams highest placer across all events in a meet loaded with talent.  Messina was the third ranked thrower at the end of the night in the shot put with a mark of 11.33 meters and fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.79 meters.

That meet finished the regular season for the track and field teams as select individuals will now look forward to the Regional Championships and the NCAA Championships in the coming weeks.
