DELHI, N.Y. - The SUNY Delhi Athletic Department is planning it's 2025 Hall of Fame induction for Sunday, Oct. 19th, with induction set to begin at 10 a.m and recognition at halftime of the women's soccer game, roughly 12:45 p.m.
Three former Broncos will be recognized:
Jacqueline Bailey 13'
Jacqueline Bailey was a member of the Women’s Volleyball Team during Delhi’s most successful seasons to date, 2009 and 2010. In her freshman season, Bailey led the team with 56 aces and was 2nd with 270 digs, ranking her 25th in the NJCAA D3. In her sophomore season, Bailey led the Broncos with 566 digs which still holds as a single-season record. During her career, Bailey amassed 32 blocks, 103 aces, 322 kills, and 836 digs, which is 4th all-time. She helped lead the Broncos to two Mountain Valley Conference Championships, with 50 victories and a 27-2 best of five dual match record during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. She was selected in the Mountain Valley Conference as Co-Player of the Year. Bailey was also selected to Region 3 Third Team, Region 3 All-Tournament Team, and the Cara Bryant Memorial All-Tournament Team. Bailey completed her bachelor’s degree at SUNY Delhi in 2013 and served as an assistant coach for the Women’s Volleyball Team for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons. She remains active as an engaged alum who contributes to and participates in the Delhi Broncos Volleyball program.
Jeremy Cornue '01
Jeremy Cornue was a standout member of the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track teams from 1999-2001. At SUNY Delhi, he lead the Broncos to their first National Track and Field NJCAA Championship in 2001. Coming to Delhi from Jordan Elbridge High School in Jordan, NY, Cornue was the 1999 NJCAA Individual Runner- Up to teammate and Hall of Fame member Eric VanOstrand at the Cross Country Championships, where the Broncos won the team title. In 2000, Cornue was the Individual Cross-Country Champion with a time of 26:59, (top 8K XC time: 26:21).. In 2001: he earned NJCAA Champion in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 9:30.26 (#4 all-time NJCAA D3 performance list; set a school record in Steeplechase: 9:20.82; was the NJCAA Champion in the 5k. 15:24.18 (#5 all-time NJCAA D3 performance list); he captured NJCAA Champion for 10,000 meters. 33:01.65; and placed 5th for 1,500 meters).He was named Track MVP at the 2001 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, recording an indoor 3,000 meters time of 8:47.72. The Broncos won two National Team Championships, largely in part to Jeremy Cornue’s performances.
Dan Peterson '85
Dan Peterson was attracted to SUNY Delhi’s nationally recognized Track and Wrestling programs plus the college’s Building/Construction major, which brought Peterson to the college in 1984 where he was a two-sport athlete running track and wrestling for the Broncos. Peterson maintained an outstanding overall record, in athletic competitions as well as in the classroom. In 1984 Peterson won the Delhi Thanksgiving Wrestling Tournament and was recognized as the overall outstanding wrestler. He was captain of the Wrestling Team and was voted Delhi’s Athlete of the Year in 1985. He was a one-time Region 3 Runner-Up and a Region 3 Champion wrestler. He ranked 3rd overall in the NJCAA in wrestling at 150 lbs. and earned All-American status. Dan Peterson has continued to support the athletic programs of his HS and college alma maters. He gives back to his community as a coach, volunteer fireman and EMT with more than 44 years of service to the Wells Bridge Fire Department.
