Cross Country/Track & Field Athlete and Coach

Justin Wood made his mark at SUNY Delhi as both an athlete and a coach. A graduate of Walton Central School, Wood quickly became a Bronco standout in Cross Country and Track and Field. Wood earned 11 NJCAA All-American honors, 4 NJCAA individual national titles, anchored three relay teams to national titles and was named the 2004 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete. He went on to compete for Seton Hall University while pursuing his bachelor's degree on a full athletic scholarship and then earned a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2008. Wood ended his collegiate career at Southern Connecticut State University with a 10th place finish at the 2007 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Wood served as the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at SUNY Delhi from 2008 to 2012. In 2009 and 2010 his Men's Cross Country Team was NJCAA National Champions. He coached 23 NJCAA individual National Champions; guided 121 Broncos to NJCAA All-American honors; and inspired his athletes to establish 23 new school records at thecollege. His coaching success continues today at Stevens Institute of Technology where he has coached 8 national champions, 20 All-Americans and 60 new track and field records have been established. Most notably, Stevens' top women's cross country runner earned the 2014 and 2016 NCAA Dill Cross Country individual National Championship and an additional four national titles on the track making her one of the top distance runners in NCAA DIII history.
