George Kent was named Captain of both the Basketball and Baseball Teams during the 1958-1959 season under Coach Robert Brown. In 1959, Kent became the first baseball player from Delhi to be named an NJCAA All American. He had a batting average of .352 and pitched two, one-hit games during his Delhi career. He averaged 12.2 points a game while playing for the basketball team. Kent went on to play on many sport teams in the Newburgh area and returned to the Delhi campus numerous times to play in alumni games. He served active duty in the U.S. Army, started his own landscaping business and raised a family after graduating from the Business program at Delhi.
