Athletics is a way of life for Neil "Butch" Riddell. At Delhi, he qualified for the 1961 NJCAA Cross Country Championship and led the Broncos to the Region III Basketball Finals in 1962. He also earned the 1962 SUNY Delhi Coach's Award for Basketball. Today, Riddell ranks among the top officials for college soccer and high school soccer and basketball. His 43-year officiating career includes the Big East Men's Soccer Final in 1987 and the Empire State Games for 15 years. A 1997 recipient of the New York State High School Soccer Referee of the Year Award, he was honored as New York State College Referee of the Year in 2000 and inducted into the New York State Coaches Soccer Hall of Fame in 2002. Riddell was also selected as a torch bearer for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. He continues to serve SUNY Delhi as a College Foundation Trustee.
