Men's Golf Places 11th at McDaniel in First Northeast Spring Competition

ABBOTSTOWN, Pa. (April 1, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's golf team competed in their first spring tournament of the season in the Northeast this weekend at the McDaniel Spring Invitational. Working their way through the windy elements at the par-72, 6,713-yard Bridges Golf Club, the Broncos amassed a 651 (+75) total for 11th place. The team stood in 13th after a 330 Saturday score and improved by nine strokes at 321 on day two Sunday.

Zach Barrett led Delhi with a 161 (+17) to place 26th, shooting an 82 on day one and improving to a 79 on day two. Alex Fisher posted the tournament's biggest day-two improvement, turning his 86 day-one score into a ten-stroke improvement Sunday with a 76 to place 28th with a 162 (+18). Jarrett McWilliams clubbed a 164 (+20) for 37th after 79-and-85-score days. Daniel Christy carded an 87 Saturday, then improved by six strokes Sunday with an 81 for a 168 (+24) to finish 56th. Aaron Oliver took in a 169 total (+25) for 61st place after an 83 Saturday and 86 Sunday.

The host Green Terror won the 18-team tournament with a 619 (+43) after 307 and 312 respective days. Rosemont's Michael Lange topped the individual leaderboard with a 151 (+7, 76-75). The Saturday portion of the tournament was sunny with temperatures in the upper 60s, but the Sunday leg turned windy, with temperatures dropping to the upper 40s.

Head coach Dave Arehart's team will be back in action over spring break, when they tackle Le Moyne's Bello Invite Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12 at the Bellevue Country Club, followed by the Skidmore Palamountain Invite on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at the Ballston Spa Country Club.
