Arehart, Christy Earn NAC's Major Awards

WATERVILLE, M.E. (October 18, 2018) – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced their season conference awards. The league recognized sophomore Daniel Christy (Canton, NY / Canton Central) as its Golfer of the Year and head coach Dave Arehart as Coach of the Year. The two became the program's first-ever recipients of the NAC's major awards, as the Broncos wrapped up their first fall as members of the conference and NCAA Division III.

Sophomore Daniel Christy recently was crowned the NAC Champion on Sunday, October 14 at the Country Club of Vermont. After shooting a 75 on day one for fifth place, Christy improved by two strokes on Sunday to jump to the top spot with a 148 total. The Canton, N.Y. native has been a frontrunner for the men throughout the season, finishing as one of Delhi's top three finishers in five of the Broncos' six meets.

Coach Arehart, in his 21st year at the helm of the Broncos, guided his golfers to impressive performances in the fall, placing second at both the NAC Championships and USCAA National Championships. With an individual title holder in Daniel Christy, Arehart also had Aaron Oliver and Russell Herbert earn Second Team All-Conference. At USCAA's, Arehart led Alex Fisher to First Team All-American and Christy to Second Team.

In addition, sophomore Brandon Palmer (Norfolk, NY / Norwood-Norfolk) earned a spot on the NAC Men's Golf Sportsmanship Team. This is Palmer's latest honor for his extraordinary commitment as a student-athlete after being named the USCAA's Golf Student-Athlete of the Year. He finished 13th at the NAC Championships with a 164 total (78, 86).
