Women's Tennis Sweeps Herkimer, Wins Second Straight Match

DELHI, N.Y. (October 2, 2017) — The SUNY Delhi women's tennis team captured their second straight win in style Monday afternoon, sweeping visiting Herkimer, 9-0. Safiyyah Muhammad, Reika Kumasaki and Antonia Delavera all tallied singles and doubles wins, with each posting straight-set wins in their singles matches.

After winning her number-four singles match, 6-1 and 6-0, Delavera teamed with Sarah Krzyston and beat the tandem of Chiharu Kainuma and Moo Toh Taw by an 8-6 score at two doubles. With Muhammad winning one singles, 6-1 and 6-2, and Kumasaki taking two singles, 6-1 and 6-1, the two went on to defeat Katerina Netti and Carol Price, 8-6, in the top doubles spot. Rani Samudrala won set one at three singles over Katerina Netti, 6-2, then battled back in set two to win, 7-5, for the straight-set win. Mackenzie Landman went on to sweep MooMu Doh, 6-0 and 6-4, at five singles.
