Women's Tennis Opens Season Versus The Sage Colleges

DELHI, N.Y. (September 5, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's tennis team opened its season on Tuesday hosting The Sage Colleges, where the Broncos came up on the short end of a 9-0 decision.

The Broncos fell to the Gators in number-two and number-three doubles, each by 8-0 scores. The one tandem of Victoria Jones and Safiyyah Muhammad held its own against the top Gators team of Sammantha Montague and Rebecca Jackson, only to fall by an 8-5 score. At two singles, Muhammad won the first set against Abbey Clobridge, 6-4, but came up short in the following sets by 6-1 and 10-6 scores. Jones dropped her number-one match to Montague by matching 6-3 scores, and Antonia Delavera fell to Shanessa Mendoza at three singles by identical 6-2 ledgers.
