UTICA, N.Y. (September 29, 2017) – Just nine days after their previous meeting at Delhi, the Broncos traveled to take on Utica Friday afternoon. The number-one tandem of Victoria Jones and Safiyyah Muhhamad posted an 8-5 win over Sara Gribanoff and Shannon Fillmore, but it would be the only Broncos win of the day as the Pioneers took an 8-1 victory.
Utica earned 8-2 and 8-3 wins in the second and third doubles matches, respectively, and took all six singles victories in straight sets. The two singles match between Muhhamad and Julianne Pieros was called due to darkness, with Pieros winning by default after winning the first set, 6-3, and leading set two, 4-2. Rani Samudrala played a close match with Christa Pham at five singles, but was edged, 6-4, in both sets.
