DELHI, N.Y. (April 9, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team's eight-game spring season came to a satisying end Friday evening with a doubleheader sweep of SUNY Poly. The Broncos swept the Wildcats in the opening game with 25-23, 25-20, and 25-14 scores. Poly retaliated with a win in the second-game opener, 25-23, only for Delhi to throw down 25-13, 25-16, and 25-23 wins in the remaining frames, clinching the match in come-from-behind fashion with four straight points in the fourth set. SUNY Delhi completes its spring campaign with a 6-2 record, collecting sweeps against SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Poly, while splitting twin bills with SUNY Canton and Cazenovia. Friday also marked the final games for seniors Haylee Lefebvre, Taylor Tsatsis, and Shelby Nolan.

GAME ONE: DELHI 3, CANTON 0

A back and forth first set resulted in a narrow 23-21 Delhi edge. Poly, however, grabbed the next two points to tie things up. The Broncos regrouped following a timeout, earning set point following a Witchney Clersainville kill and a subsequent Wildcats attack error for the 25-23 win. Aside from an early 2-2 tie, the Broncos led throughout the second frame on their way to a 25-20 victory. The green and gold took full advantage of its two-set lead with a convincing 25-14 win to collect the sweep.

Clersainville led Delhi with eight kills, landing a .700 kill percentage and adding one block solo and one block assist. Taylor Tsatsis and Marie Julian each logged six kills, with Julian charting three service aces and 13 digs. Shelby Nolan led the game with 15 digs, as Chloe Elsenbeck totaled 12 assists to go with seven digs and three kills. While each side had 29 total digs, the Broncos ultimately won out with a .130 kill percentage with just 16 errors, compared to the Wildcats' .027 with 26 errors.

GAME TWO: DELHI 3, CANTON 1

SUNY Delhi proved its comeback caliber in the nightcap, overcoming a disappointing 25-23 defeat in set one with powerful 25-13 and 25-16 victories in sets two and three, respectively. Poly looked to force a deciding set ahead 23-21 in the fourth frame, but after a pivotal Delhi timeout, the Broncos went on a four-point run to steal the set and victory, thanks in part to a Gabriela Kralik kill and a Taylor Tsatsis service ace, one of her three for the match.

The Broncos boasted 37 total kills in the second match, with six kills from Tsatsis and Marie Julian and five kills from Kralik, Stephanie Burke, and Witchney Clersainville. Haylee Lefebvre and Lexi Taylor each added four kills. Chloe Elsenbeck accounted for 18 assists, along with a game-best four service aces and adding 13 digs. Julian led Delhi with 28 digs, with Shelby Nolan right behind her with 17 digs. Clersainville registered six total blocks, including one solo. Although Poly had 39 kills to Delhi's 37, the Broncos' ability to keep the errors down proved crucial, only accounting for 21 of them for a .105 percentage, while the Wildcats had 37 errors for a .028 percentage.
