Salley Garners Game-High 21 Points Saturday at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. (February 9, 2020) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team took the court at Marywood Saturday afternoon, falling to the Pacers by a 97-64 score. Samiaya Salley led the game with 21 points, despite four Pacers tallying double digits in scoring and the hosts dropping at least 20 points in each quarter. Delhi has two more games to play, starting with another Pennsylvania visit down to Valley Forge on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m., then home versus Norwich Monday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Salley's totals included making 8-of-14 from the field and 3-of-4 from 3-point range., while adding six rebounds for her third 20-point game of the season. Kiera Holland totaled 11 points and a team-best eight rebounds and five assists. Sam Acuna and Diana Echols each tallied nine points, with Echols grabbing seven rebounds. Both sides exchanged buckets to start, with the Broncos taking a slim 7-5 advantage in that early going. But Marywood saddled up for a 12-0 run and never looked back, leading, 27-11, at the end of the first quarter and 51-29 at halftime. They stretched their lead to as many as 34 before the final buzzer.

The Broncos totaled 40.7 percent shooting (24-for-59), making 7-of-14 threes and 9-of-18 free throws. Marywood finished at 48.1 percent (39-for-81), 12-of-35, and 7-of-12, respectively. The Pacers led, 49-32, in rebounds.

Delhi's home season finale versus the Norwich Cadets Monday, Feb. 17 will be part of the Broncos' senior night, honoring graduating players Sam Acuna, Antonia Buon, Diana Echols, Katelyn Lewis, Samiaya Salley, and departing sophomore Brenna Gioffe.
