DANBURY, Ct. (December 29, 2019) – A 35-9 first-quarter lead by host Western Connecticut State proved too much to overcome for the SUNY Delhi women's basketball team, as they fell by a 103-43 score to open their stay at WCSU's Hat City Tournament. The Broncos, now 1-10, will play Elms in the consolation game Monday at 3:00 p.m.

The Colonials fired at will all afternoon, finishing at 42.0 percent on 37-for-88 shots, including 14-for-42 from 3-point range, while limiting the Broncos to 32.8 percent on 19-for-58 and 3-of-12 on threes. Western Ct. State also made the most out of 41 Delhi turnovers, earning a 53-10 advantage in points off turnovers. Though WCSU held a modest 42-32 lead in rebounds, they did garner a 28-15 lead in offensive boards that led to a 26-0 ledger in second-chance points.

Samiaya Salley delivered a team-high 13 points off the bench, as Katelyn Lewis posted seven points with five rebounds. Camryn McDonald made five points with ten boards, while Kiera Holland had six markers and three boards. Justine Lubbers hit on four points and pulled down six rebounds, as Sam Acuna charted five points and five boards.

Sunday marked head coach Lauren McRoberts' team's return to the court from a two-week winter break. Following Monday's meeting with the Elms Blazers, the Broncos ring in the new year with a home matchup against future NAC rival SUNY Canton on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2:00 p.m.
