Lane Shatters Course Record As Broncos Have Great Day At The Bronco Classic

Men's Results / Women's Results

SUNY Delhi hosted their 19th annual Bronco Weekday Classic Cross Country Meet at the College Golf Course.  The men's team picked up their second team win of the year and women had their best showing as a team taking second place out of the four scoring teams.

Leading the way for the men was once again sophomore Kobie Lane.  He took the lead early in the race and just continued to press the pace until nobody was with him.  From there, it was a race between Lane and the clock.  His winning time of 16:19.5 shattered his own course record established last year when he ran 16:47.1.  Lane finished 32 seconds ahead of the runner-up.  The rest of the Broncos scoring runners were sophomore Andrew Davis (4th), senior Jack Hillenbrand (5th), freshman Connor Oakman (6th) and sophomore Nick Arnecke (7th).  The runners in 2nd and third place were on incomplete teams so the men's team score was a perfect 15 points to place first in the 6 team field.

For the women, the team was led by sophomore Elise McIntyre for the first time this season.  Elise ran a very strong second half of the race to move up in the field and place ninth overall.  The other scorers for the women were senior Kelsey Esselman (10th), freshman Ashley Magnifico (11th), sophomore Rainey Cerqua (14th) and freshman Melissa Mangold (15th).  The team scored a total of 52 points to place second behind Oneonta and ahead of Herkimer and Davis College.

The teams will compete next in the Western New England Invitational on October 15th.
