Delhi Softball Wraps up Gene Cusic Classic in Florida

NAPLES, FL - Delhi softball wrapped up the Gene Cusic Classic in Florida with two games today against NYU and Alfred State. The Broncos started with a tough 10-0 loss to NYU and then finished their tournament with a close 6-5 loss to Alfred State.

The green and gold struggled to get the bats going in the first game as they couldn't get anyone across home plate. Lauren Zecca and Miah Hamm both singled while Roselyn Monks walked twice.

The second game of the day was much tighter, going down to the final inning. After finding themselves down three runs in the second inning the Broncos came alive and rallied to tie the game up in the top of the third. Zecca's RBI double would be the hit to awaken the offense as they scored three runs in the inning. The Pioneers would then immediately respond with a run in the bottom of the third and two more in the fifth inning. There was a late-game push for the Broncos with Kayla Beers and Sidney Cooper knocking in runs in the sixth inning, but they would eventually fall 6-5.

The Broncos wrap up their 2023 Florida trip and will look forward to their first regular season game on March 27th when they take on Marywood in a doubleheader.
