Men finish fourth and women seventh at Golden Bear Invite

Western New England, MA – Delhi Cross Country traveled to the 2023 Golden Bear Invite for their fifth race of the season. The women's team went first, finishing seventh out of nine teams, while the men's team followed with a fourth-place finish out of 11 programs. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW  

  • Senior Marissa Lombardi (was the first to finish for the Broncos in the women's 6K race, placing 17th overall out of a field of 81 runners with a time of 25:49.  

  • The freshman pair of Mary Bryant and Evie Eastman finished back-to-back, securing the 24th and 25th positions, respectively.  

  • On the men's side, three Broncos finished within the top 15 scorers among 107 participants in the 8K race.  

  • Sophomore Nathan Goodwin (Elka Park, NY) and freshman Derek Leiter (Salisbury Mills, NY) finished just within the top 10, with Goodwin in 9th place at 27:14 and Leiter right behind in 10th with a time of 27:19.  

  • Junior Sam Lees (Delancey, NY) was the third man for Delhi, finishing 18th overall but scoring as 15th with a time of 28:00.  

  • Sophomore Cheo Munford (Staten Island, NY) and junior Nyerere Hill (Brooklyn, NY) rounded out the scoring with 38th and 39th place finishes, respectively 

 

UP NEXT FOR THE BRONCOS  

Delhi Cross Country will gear up for the North Atlantic Conference Championships on October 28th in Presque Isle, Maine. The men will aim to defend their conference title, while the women will seek to avenge their runner-up finish.
