DELHI, N.Y. (April 25, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi men's tennis team were handed a 6-3 defeat to Thomas Sunday in NAC action. Despite picking up a pair of doubles wins at one and two, freshman Jarod Rackliffe's one singles win was the only victory for the Broncos in the singles competition.

Rackliffe and Christopher Balogh again joined forces at one doubles, beating Jose Afonso and Liam Gould by an 8-3 score. Bailey Lane and Ryan Fitzpatrick defeated Princiel Kunieki and Jason Hamilton at two, also posting an 8-3 decision. Rackliffe followed up by holding down his undefeated singles status, posting 6-0 and 6-3 wins over Afonso to go 4-0 on the year.

Delhi had close bouts at two, three and five singles, but the Terriers ultimately won out. Balogh played Gould close, with Gould coming out of both of them with 7-5 and 6-4 scores. Fitzpatrick had a similar outcome in his first frame versus Hamilton at three, with the Thomas competitor edging out a 7-5 victory, then coming out with a commanding 6-0 ledger in game two. Dominick DeBonis went three sets with Carter Fogarty at the five spot, with Fogarty winning game one 6-2 and DeBonis capturing a 6-1 second-set win. Fogarty came back to claim the match in set three by a 6-3 score.

Sunday's end result pitted Delhi, Thomas, and NVU Lyndon in a three-way tie in the NAC, with the league tiebreakers giving Thomas and NVU Lyndon finalist nods for May's NAC Championship. The Broncos have two more non-conference matches this spring, beginning with another bout with Utica on Thursday and SUNY Broome on May 5.
