SUNY Delhi Men's Basketball 2023/24 season preview

Delhi Men's Basketball, led by head coach Jonathan Annan in his first year in charge, is gearing up for the 2023-24 season as they aim to defend their 2023 conference title. Following a promising season where the Broncos went undefeated at home and earned their first NCAA tournament berth, the team is eager to get back to work.

"It is truly a blessing to be surrounded with a great group of young men on a consistent basis. I'm looking forward to how our team responds when our backs are against the wall this season," said head coach Annan, "It's easy to excel when comfortable, but the real test is how one responds when uncomfortable. Our coaching staff is 10 TOES locked in with this group and can't wait to see them push to reach their fullest potential!"

In the 2022/23 season, the green and gold made a name for themselves by winning the North Atlantic Conference Championship for the first time since joining the conference. They won 20 games during the season, marking the third consecutive time they accomplished this feat.

The returning unit for Delhi is comprised of 14 players and will be joined by three newcomers who fit in with the team nicely. Notable returners include juniors, Isiah Barnes and Lester McCarthy, both of whom were selected to the All-NAC team last season. The dynamic backcourt duo was a constant threat last season as Barnes led the conference in assists per game and  McCarthy's sharpshooting led the NAC with 3.2 three-pointers per game.

The duo is joined by returning seniors Marvin Louissant and Pablo Quinones, who played important roles in the Delhi unit all last season. Both players aim to take another step in their final year in the green and gold and play pivotal positions on the team.

The Broncos will begin their season on the road, playing four consecutive away games before making their home debut on November 18th. They then open their regular season conference schedule away at VTSU-Johnson on December 8th before hosting their NAC opener on January 9th. Additionally, the Broncos will travel to take on NCAA Division I Columbia for an exhibition match on November 15th.

Key games to watch include Delhi hosting a rematch of the 2023 North Atlantic Championship on January 12th when they take on UMaine Farmington. The Broncos will also host five consecutive conference games at the end of January, facing NAC West rivals SUNY Cobleskill on the 20th, SUNY Canton on the 26th, and Morrisville State on the 30th.

The green and gold will conclude their regular season with four games on the road in February, wrapping up with two conference games on the 9th and 10th.
