Broncos of the Week 2/15-2/21

Delhi, NY - It was another great week in Delhi Athletics featuring an exciting playoff win in basketball and some more personal best performances from the track and field team.  This weeks Bronco of the Week honors highlights two deserving Broncos that continued to step up their level as the competition got stronger.

Isiah Barnes

Junior | Elmont, NY| Men's Basketball

Barnes has been the floor general for the Broncos for three years now and as the team entered the postseason, he was ready to do his part to make it a memorable one.  The men's basketball team entered the NAC Playoffs as the fourth seed in the NAC West earning them the trip to Morrisville to play the top seeded Mustangs in the first round of the postseason.  The Broncos, the only NAC team to beat Morrisville all year, did it again to pull the upset.  The men then played the NAC West final against Cobleskill, falling just short and dropping by two points.  In the two nights of ball, Barnes totaled 45 points, nine steals, eight assists and four rebounds.  That stat line would earn him honors on the NAC All-Tournament Team.

Evelyn Eastman

Freshman | Wilson, PA | Women's Track & Field

Freshman Evelyn Eastman has been one of the steadiest performers for the women's cross country team in the fall and again for the track and field team this winter.  She has regularly challenged herself to get out of her comfort zone as an 800 meter runner to make meaningful contributions to the cross country team.  This winter, she continues to challenge herself and at Cornell's Mark Denault Invitational this past weekend she posted a huge breakthrough performance running a new lifetime best in the mile.  Her time of 5:49.01 was 17 seconds better than she had run this season.

While the men's basketball season came to an end this week, the track and field team still has a few more indoor meets remaining and we are looking forward to firing up Lacrosse and Softball season in Delhi so keep following along for what looks to be a great spring season!
