LYNDON, Vt. (October 26, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team showcased their scoring abilities Saturday with an 8-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Northern Vermont Lyndon in their regular season finale. A 2-0 halftime lead was turned into a six-goal second half by the NAC Tournament-bound Broncos, who complete the regular season at 8-6-2 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play. Head coach Lauren Mackay's team awaits their placement in the conference playoffs, set to begin next weekend.

Brianna Laing got Delhi's day started with a score at the 9:36 mark, which was followed by her former South Kortright Central teammate and team-leading goal scorer Alexa DuBois connecting for the first of her two goals on the afternoon at 19:25. DuBois resumed the scoring in the second half with a goal at 49:05 for her 14th score of the year. Reanen Goodspeed assisted on DuBois' goal, and further contributed by netting the next two scores at 53:54 and 65:35, assisted by Alexa Scaglione. Sam Acuna gave Delhi a 6-0 lead at 80:47, which was followed by team-leading scorer Kelsey Innes earning her 13th goal of the season at 82:49 off a feed from Olivia Curry. Scaglione finished out the scoring at 85:31.

The Broncos outshot their NAC hosts, 37-4, and had 14 corner kicks to the Hornets' zero. Goalkeepers Rachael Scoones and Jessica Shultis exchanged halves in net for the combined shutout. The starting Scoones garnered four saves to improve to 5-5 on the year.

Saturday's win puts Delhi at third place in the NAC standings, trailing just unbeaten Maine Maritime (7-0 NAC) and Husson (5-1-1 NAC). The Broncos took both teams to overtime, coming up short against the top-place Mariners and tying the Eagles. The seeding for the NAC Tournament will be determined at the conclusion of the conference season on Wednesday. The six-team tournament features the two top seeds earning a first-round bye as the remaining four square off in the quarterfinals next weekend, hosted by the third and fourth seeds. The final four will then be held at the one seed's site the weekend of November 9-10.

DuBois and Innes both bolstered their scoring totals to 32 points, good for second in the NAC. DuBois has 14 goals (second in NAC) and four assists, and Innes 13 goals and six assists. Scaglione boosted her numbers to 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Goodspeed and Acuna each have four goals on the year.

Coach Mackay's women wrap up their first regular season in the NAC that started with the highest of high at 4-0-1. But five defeats over their next six games put the Broncos near the .500 mark, which they countered by going 3-1-1 to close out the year. Delhi played a total of seven overtime games this season, where they went 2-3-2.
