Broncos Track and Field Closes Regular Season at Cortland Classic

Cortland, NY - The Delhi track and field teams traveled to Cortland for a two day meet.  The Broncos look to use the meet to sharpen up going into the North Atlantic Conference Championship meet to be held at SUNY Oneonta next weekend.  There were a number of strong finishes and improved performances for the team over the two days that has them looking ready for the championship season.

Sophomore Zoe Rodi has been on a tear all season and that didn't change this weekend.  Rodi won the 400-meter event with her second straight sub-59 second performance.  Her time of 58.92 was well over a full second ahead of the runner-up in the event.  Rodi also teamed up with teammates Kimberly Dean, Meg Cruz and Kadie-Ann Whyte to place second in the meet for the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.10.  That is by far the fastest time in the North Atlantic Conference for the event on the season.

Senior Kitty Messina had a nice season best in the javelin with a toss of 32.29 meters to place second in the meet overall.

On the men's side, Joshua Jeffes won the invitational 100-meter dash with a time 10.78 after running 10.73 in the preliminary heat.  Cristhian Cuevas also advanced to the invitational final where he placed fifth in 11.14.  In the open 100-meter, freshman Ryan Swinea won the event with his perfomance of 11.29 seconds.  Jeffes also won the 200-meter dash with his time of 21.84 seconds.

Senior Chris Filatov placed third in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.60 meters.  That ties his school record performance from earlier this spring.

The team will now prepare for the two-day North Atlantic Conference Championships to be held this coming weekend at SUNY Oneonta.
