Broncos Open Florida Trip Playing Albion, Drew

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 5, 2020) – SUNY Delhi Softball started off the first two games of its four-day, eight-game in Florida playing against Albion and Drew at Century Link Field. The Broncos were not able to keep up with the explosive offense of either teams, as Delhi fell to the Albion Britons, 13-3, then to the Drew Rangers, 19-0. Head Coach Meagan Hillard's team will look to rebound on day two Friday, as the team heads to Naples to take on Clark at 9:00 a.m. and Martin Luther at 11:00 a.m. 

ALBION 13, DELHI 3 (6 INNINGS)

The Broncos had a rough start to the game by giving up three Britons first-innings runs, but were able to answer back in the bottom frame with a Dakota Baker two-run RBI single to make the game 3-2. Delhi was held scoreless for the next three innings as Albion put up a four spot in the third. The Broncos earned a run in the fifth, but the Britons pulled away with six runs in the sixth.

Katelynn Rose pitched all six innings, giving up four earned runs and struck out five. Baker finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs, providing two of Delhi's three hits on the day. Sierra Keesler batted 1-for-3 for the team's remaining hit.

DREW 19, DELHI 0 (5 INNINGS)

The Rangers got started right away with eight runs in the first inning, as the Broncos could only answer with three hits in the contesta. Drew went on to score two in the second, sixth in the third, one in the fourth, and two in the fifth.

Shelby Nolan, Sierra Keesler, and Kayla Beers provided Delhi's only three hits on the afternoon. Molly Greene pitched the first four innings, allowing 13 earned runs on 18 hits with one strikeout. Alexis Cobb gave up just two earned runs on three hits pitching the fifth.
