Sierra Keesler Earns First Career USCAA All-American Honors

USCAA SOFTBALL ALL-AMERICAN RELEASE

DUBOIS, Pa. (May 16, 2019) – Junior outfielder Sierra Keesler (Hancock, NY / Hancock Central) received a selection to the USCAA All-American Second Team, as announced by the league this week. It marks Keesler's first-ever All-American nod, and the first national selection for SUNY Delhi softball since 2016.

In her second season playing for the Broncos, Keesler led the team this season in numerous batting categories this season, including a .411 batting average (37-for-90), finishing as one of two Broncos with at least a .400 average. She also topped the Broncos with a .722 slug percentage, five home runs and 38 RBIs. The Hancock, NY native tied a team best with three triples, while hitting seven doubles. In center field, Keesler racked up a .939 fielding percentage with 30 putouts.

One of Keesler's many highlights from 2019 was during Delhi's first doubleheader sweep of 2019 at Morrisville State. She hit a home run in each game to help the Broncos to 6-4 and 12-1 wins, including a deep drive to straightaway center in the latter contest.

Guided by Keesler's efforts, first-year head coach Meagan Hillard turned around a squad that finished 0-27 the year before to their first double-digit win season in three years at 11-15. After starting the year at 1-5, the Broncos went on to win nine of their next 12 games, which included doubleheader sweeps over fellow SUNY school Morrisville State and ACAA foes Pine Manor and Valley Forge. Delhi qualified for the ACAA Tournament, where the Broncos came up short in competitive contests versus Thomas More and host Alfred State.
