Tennis Falls to Thomas; Looks to Next Weekend For Another Shot

WATERVILLE, ME (April 16, 2022) - The men's tennis team traveled to Maine to play the first of two very significant matches against the Thomas College Terriers.  With both teams coming into the match at 4-0 in conference play and two matches against each other left in the lineup, the host of the NAC Championships is up for grabs.

The Terriers came out strong sweeping all three doubles matches 8-5 at number one doubles, 8-1 at number two doubles and 8-6 at number three doubles.  The Broncos picked up their first win of the day at number one singles where Jarod Rackliffe won his match 6-3, 6-2.  Delhi also picked up wins at number four and number five singles.  In the number four spot, Ryoto Yoshinaga won his match 8-6.  In the number five spot, Kyle Gonda also won 8-6.

With the final score a 6-3 win for Thomas, they move to 5-0 in the NAC while Delhi falls to 4-1.  Next Saturday, it is Thomas' turn to travel to Delhi for the final match.  Should Thomas win, they would host the NAC Championship the following week.  Should Delhi win, the teams would finish the season tied in conference play and the championship host would be determined by tie-break criteria.
