Broncos Extend Winning Streak to Four

SUNY Delhi took on Penn State Greater Allegheny at home Sunday afternoon. The Lions took a small lead to start the game and held that lead throughout the first half of the game, entering halftime on top 31-27. The Broncos, however, would not hand over their winning streak so easily. SUNY Delhi put up five quick points to start the second half, taking the lead from the Lions 32-31 just a minute and a half into the third period. An impressive third period offensive team effort by SUNY Delhi put up 26 points on the scoreboard, with scoring spread amongst seven different Broncos. The Broncos took a nine point lead into the fourth period where the Lions sought to counter attack and regain their lead. The Broncos would win the game at the free throw line, shooting 75.9% (22-29) overall on the game and putting away 13 of their 19 points in the fourth period at the line, with SUNY Delhi's Brittany Toliver shooting 7-8 from the line. Nine Broncos contributed on the scoreboard with five finishing the game in double figures. Samantha St. Denis lead the way with a team high 12 points, followed by Toliver and Sam Acuna with 11, and Katie Herba and Cayla Heffern with 10 a piece. Again, an impressive showing by the SUNY Delhi bench, putting up 29 points, contributed to the success of the Broncos. In a big win against the Lions, finishing on top 72-67, the Broncos extended their winning streak to four. SUNY Delhi faces Alfred State on the road Saturday afternoon at Alfred State. The Broncos beat the Pioneers a little over a week a go at home in overtime, 90-80.
