Defending National Champs Top Broncos

SUNY Delhi took on defending National Champions, the College of Saint Joseph's (VT) Wednesday night at home. The Broncos' slow start put them in the hole early, with a score of 20-8 in favor of the Saints at the end of the first period. The Broncos would not go down without a fight and worked to fill the gap, scoring 26 points in the fourth period and coming within 8 halfway through. SUNY Delhi's team effort spread the work amongst multiple Broncos. Samiaya Salley scored a game high 23 points, Katie Herba added 12 points and pulled in 6 steals, Brittany Toliver had 8 points and 6 assists, and Diana Echols added 9 points and pulled down a game high 14 rebounds. However, Saint Joseph's strong showing on the scoreboard, with four Saints in double figure scoring and every game participant contributing offensively, was too much for the Broncos to top. The Saints would go on to win 76-68. SUNY Delhi will have an opportunity to even the score when they head to Vermont and face the Saints on February 14th.
