Broncos Open Season in South Carolina, Fall to Scranton

SUNY Delhi softball started their spring training trip at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in South Carolina with a season opening match-up with the University of Scranton Royals.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Delhi opened the scoring in the top of the first. Kayla Beers picked up the first hit of the season and was batted home by Sidney Cooper's 2-out double.

Scranton would answer right back with a 4-run bottom half of the first and extended their lead with 3 more runs pushed across in the 2nd.

The Broncos would grab another run in the third inning but the Royals used a big 4th inning, scoring 5, and extending the lead to 13-2.

Cayla Moroni would single to start the 5th and steal two bases. The game would finish after Delhi's fifth at-bat.

 

NOTES:

Beers collected two singles. Danielle Seymour collected the Broncos' fifth hit of the evening. 

Seymour pitched 3 innings in her first appearance on the mound.

 

WHAT'S NEXT:

Delhi softball (0-1) is back in action tomorrow morning with a doubleheader against Lycoming College (9AM) and Franciscan University (11AM).
