Delhi Plays Two Away From Home; Falls to Morrisville

April 21, 2024 --- Morrisville, NY

SUNY Delhi softball made their first trip away from home since their spring break trip; travelling to Morrisville for a NAC doubleheader.

GAME 1: DELHI (1) vs. MORRISVILLE (14) --- 5 innings:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Broncos were able to take the lead early with their first at-bat. Danielle Seymour would single home Sidney Cooper for a 1-0. Unfortunately, the lead was short-lived as the home Mustangs sent 11 batters to the plate before recording an out. Morrisville would lead 10-1 after one inning.

Delhi would load the bases in the 2nd inning but wouldn't be able to threaten Morrisville's lead. Morrisville would add on four more runs in the bottom of the second. This would be all they would need as the game finished in five innings.

NOTES:

Angelina Dickel (3-11) pitched all five innings for the Broncos. She would also add a single.

Kaitlyn Stagno would pick up two singles.

Delhi would leave 9 runners stranded on base.

GAME 2: DELHI (0) vs. MORRISVILLE (6):

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The teams would remain scoreless through the first inning. It was Morrisville that struck first in the bottom half of the 2nd inning to take a 2-0 lead.

The Delhi bats couldn't get rolling in game 2 with the Mustang pitcher keeping them at bay. Morrisville's fourth and fifth inning would push the lead to the final score of 6-0.

NOTES:

Kayleigh Allen (0-2) threw the complete game for Delhi.

Stagno added another single to her day.

Kayla Beers and Sidney Cooper added the other two hits for the Broncos.

WHAT'S NEXT:

SUNY Delhi softball will play 7 games this week. They will venture first to Elmira College for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. Games to begin at 3PM and 5PM. The Broncos will also make trips to Alfred State on Wednesday (4/24) and returns to NAC play on Friday/Saturday. They will face SUNY Canton on the weekend.
