NAPLES, FL (March 15, 2022) -- In the first game on March 14, Delhi came up against Nazareth, with the Golden Flyers coming out with the 9-1 six-inning win.
Nazareth (9) vs. Delhi (1):
The Broncos were able to score a run in the top half of the first inning for the 3rd time in their first 5 games. Kayla Beers got things started with a walk followed by a Mel Papuli single. Katelynn Rose, the 5th batter of the inning, singled and Beers scored the first run of the afternoon off a throwing error by Nazareth. These first inning hits would be the Broncos' only hits until a Beers single in the 5th inning.
Nazareth scored a single run in each of the first three innings before pushing six runs across in the final two innings to end the game after 6 innings.
Rose (1-2) threw all 6 innings in the loss. The Golden Flyers' Cat Moores got the win; going the full six, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 8. The Broncos did force five free passes off of Moores.
Delhi would also fall to Alfred State, 9-4, in the second game of the day.
